Ombuds

The Ombuds service provides you with the opportunity to talk or write to an Ombudsperson about your concern or problem. You may not want others to know about your situation, or you may fear the consequences of speaking up against someone, or you may just need some information about ISKCON and how it runs, and you don't know where else to turn for an answer.

As trained Ombuds, we will hear you out, and offer you options on how to deal with the situation. Often, just having someone listen to you carefully provides you with relief. We are happy to serve you in that way. At your request, we may even contact the person or group you are having difficulty with, either with the hopes of improving the situation or setting up a mediation for you.

The Ombuds Office is an independent, neutral, confidential and informal resource. It does not accept formal complaints or notice for ISKCON. If you wish to make a record, or put ISKCON "on notice", that is, to make ISKCON formally aware of a particular problem, we can provide information on how to do so.

Ombuds Evaluation
Directly following an Ombuds case it is helpful that the visitor completes an Evaluation Survey of the case. This enables us to monitor and improve the services we are offering. Please take the time to complete the survey.

The survey can be either filled out online or downloaded:

Mediation

The Mediation service provides you with the opportunity to directly confront the issues with the other person, but under the control and guidance of a neutral trained Mediator. The Mediator's role is to see that both parties get equal opportunity to express their views and guide them towards a mutually agreeable solution. The Mediator is not a judge and will not impose a solution on either party, but will help the parties come to their own solution. ISKCONResolve has trained mediators in most parts of the ISKCON world. You may choose a mediator from the list of devotees who have taken the ISKCON mediation course, or contact us to help you arrange a mediation. We are happy to help, and are ready to ask the other party if they will participate in the mediation.

ISKCON Mediation Evaluation
Directly following a mediation it is helpful that both the mediator and both the disputants complete an Evaluation Survey of the mediation. This enables us to monitor and improve the services we are offering. Please take the time to complete the survey.

Mediator and disputant surveys can be either filled out online or downloaded:

Dialogue

You may not be ready to commit yourself to working out an agreement with another party as in Mediation. A precursor to mediation is dialogue. ISKCONResolve's mediators can also function as facilitators of a dialogue. In a dialogue people in conflict start to communicate and understand one another. It's a very helpful first step in a dispute that is complicated or longstanding.

Conflict Analysis

Many conflicts are complicated. They may exist on the individual level, but also be influenced by the community or Society-wide level. They often have a substantial history behind them as well. ISKCONResolve can help you map out the conflict, and also help you decide on which levels to address it. This is an important exercise to ensure that the same dispute doesn't reoccur again and again in the future.
